Work with TJ

  • TJ is a versatile and experienced performer with a doctorate in violin performance and 20+ years of experience performing music from varying genres and time periods.  Regularly performing solo, chamber and orchestral repertoire from the Baroque era to contemporary, TJ’s musical versatility also extends to the popular music world. With a wide variety of performance experience, they can smoothly navigate between performing in traditional classical contexts as well as more unconventional spaces and are always open to new performance opportunities and collaborations.

  • TJ loves the challenges and possibilities that come with finding new ways to cross genres and highlight the uniqueness of an artist’s voice to create an impactful work.  TJ has experience doing this through writing string parts and arrangements for collaborations with bands and singers and they are always open to new contexts to include strings to generate a meaningful musical experience.

  • TJ thrives as a team player and loves to collaborate in developing shows as well as exploring creative ways to exist within, as well as extend beyond the classical sphere.  They have done this through writing and arranging music for collaborations between strings and singers/bands and have developed multidimensional shows which use the interplay between unique programming, staging, original compositions and lighting to convey a larger narrative.

  • In addition to recording albums with classical groups such as collectif9, the Montreal Symphony Orchestra and Orchestre de l’Agora, TJ has collaborated with artists such as REM, Yes We Mystic, Basia Bulat,  Frannie Holder, Braids, Fanny Bloom, Mille Milles/Vincent Legault, Catherine Durand, and Ingrid St Pierre.

TJ is adaptable within recording sessions and is always ready to use their creativity for editing and experimenting to help artists create their desired sound world.  They are flexible and collaborative, but can also assume a leadership role when needed and have a sensitivity for what is required in order to efficiently achieve a desired result while maintaining a high bar and ear for detail.

  • TJ is passionate about commissioning new works and working with composers as they develop their compositions. They have extensive experience performing contemporary works and collaborating with composers through being a member of collectif9, Ensemble CASSIOPÉE, as well as through being concertmaster of the McGill Contemporary Music Ensemble, being a finalist in the Eckhardt-Gramatté National Music Competition, attending the Lucerne Festival Academy, working with Ensemble Paramirabo, and being the artist in residence of the McGill Association of Student Composers with their (former) chamber ensemble Trio Émerillon.
